Many States have legalized Recreational Marijuana
Which States have legalized Recreational Marijuana? (USA)
All 9 States (so far) that allow recreational Marijuana, have the following consistent requirements-
Only adults with a minimum age of 21 are legally allowed to use or posses Marijuana.
No public smoking of Cannabis (in Parks, businesses, on sidewalks or on federal land.)
The following States have legalized Marijuana so far, and have small differences in what is allowed.
ALASKA
Alaska allows up to ounce or roughly 30-40 joints per adult in your possession
Alaskan adults over 21 years of age can possess, grow or give away (not sell) up to 6 plants. No more than 3 of those 6 plants can be flowering at one time. This is limited per residence.
Buying and selling Marijuana in Alaska is only allowed through a licensed dispensary or broker.
California
California will allow recreational marijuana beginning in January 2018, however details from region to region are still being worked out.
Local by laws are being worked out currently to regulate any licensed dispensaries. There are and will be many limitations on recreational Marijuana.
Adults in California are allowed up to one ounce per person, for possession.
Buying and selling is only allowed through a licensed dispensary or broker.
An adult is allowed to grow up to 6 plants in residence.
All Buying and Selling of Cannabis is restricted through licensed dispensaries or brokers.
That is all that is known for sure at this time, as laws and bylaws are being worked out.
Colorado
Colorado is the most progressive of all the US states regarding Marijuana. Since 2012, Colorado was already passing Recreational Marijuana laws. This State has a booming Cannabis industry.
Adults in Colorado are allowed up to one ounce for possession, per person.
Buying and selling is only legal through licensed Dispensaries..
Since 2012, each residence was allowed to grow up to 6 plants, with only 3 flowering at once. Beginning January 2018, that number doubles to 12 plants allowed.
Public smoking of Cannabis is not allowed but each Property owner is given the choice of whether to allow it or not. Some Hotels allow the recreational smoking of Marijuana in their establishments.

Maine (proposed)
Adults in Maine are allowed up to 2.5 ounces for possession
Personal residences are allowed to grow up to 12 immature plants, 6 flowering plants and unlimited seedlings.
At this time, I still have not read any information regarding whether it is now legal to buy and sell recreational marijuana. The laws there are still in limbo regarding recreational use.
Massachusetts
July 2018, Massachusetts is poised to legalize recreational Marijuana, but details on laws and limitations are still being finalized.
Personal possession is up to an ounce per adult
Personal residences are allowed to grow up to 12 plants, up to 6 flowering plants.
Buying and selling is legal only through licensed dispensaries.
Nevada
Personal possession is up to one ounce for adults, per person
Personal residences are allowed to grow up to 12 plants with no more than 6 plants flowering at one time. Growing your own plants is banned if your grow op is within 25 miles of a licensed dispensary. I suppose the thinking behind that if you can buy it legally close to where you live, then you don’t need to grow it?
Buying and selling is only legal through licensed dispensaries or brokers
Smoking weed is only allowed on private property but some Hotels do allow it.

Washington state
Washington State has legalized recreational use but it must be purchased from a licensed dispensary or broker
Personal possession is up to 1 ounce
Growing your own Marijuana is only legal as Medicinal use, so a Doctor’s approval is necessary. Up to 15 plants may be grown with a Doctor approved special license.
