Hemp seed oil vs CBD oil
Hemp seed oil vs CBD oil
I recently had to set some people straight on the difference between Hemp seed oil vs CBD oil, or Hemp oil compared to CBD oil. They wanted to buy a CBD oil product but were looking on Amazon. First off folks, don’t be fooled, Amazon does not allow any products to be advertised as containing CBD. I checked them out and yes, there APPEAR to be products that might be CBD products but they are not.
Its’ not just on Amazon, companies touting their CBD oils have literally EXPLODED all over the internet market waves! Before you go any further, you might be interested in reading my page here on Hemp and another one on Marijuana.
CBD is only ONE of many cannabinoids in the Cannabis species, including both Hemp and Marijuana varieties. Yes, it’s becoming known as a wonderful medicine, BUT, it should not be isolated from the other cannabinoids. ALL OF THEM work together, along with the Terpenes.
What is CBD oil exactly? There are many companies that are outright scammers so it’s important to know what CBD oil SHOULD BE. CBD, which is short for cannabiniol, is a cannabinoid that has been extracted from the oil that is extracted from the FLOWER of the Hemp or Marijuana plant, not the seeds!
The seeds of Hemp and Marijuana contain NO cannabiniods at all. Yes you read that right. None.
The real magic healing is in the flowers. The plants are harvested BEFORE they go to seed, in order to extract the cannabinoids.
So therefore, Hemp Seed oil, is just that, oil made from the seeds of the plants. It’s nutritious certainly, not unlike Flax seed oil. High in Omega fatty acids, so very healthy for you, but not a medicine. Hemp seed oil and Hemp oil are the same thing…. unless the product is called Full Spectrum Hemp Oil.
Now Hemp seed oil or Hemp oil is often used in a CBD oil preparation, as a base. Coconut oil and Grape seed oil are also used as base oils too. However, none contain CBD at all. The CBD is added as an isolate, a pure extraction of CBD to varying strengths.
The Hemp oil that I use is a Full spectrum oil, meaning the oils have been extracted from the flower AND the leaves/stalk. It is a better medicine this way, because ALL the cannabinoids are intact, along with all the supporting actors, the Terpenes and other natural chemicals.
And there it is in a nutshell 🙂
Next blog post will be on the value of using CBD products for your dog
Peacefully yours,
Flower Child
