Bad trip on Cannabis oil
Bad Trip on Cannabis oil
I recently had what is called a ‘bad trip’, from taking a tiny bit of Phoenix Tears concentrate. I had been using the concentrate on my knees, along with some DMSO to create fast absorption for over a week. I had no psychedelic affects at all, until one afternoon I decided to put some under my tongue. I must have taken more than I realized or it was an accumulative affect from the concentrate in my knee tissue and what I had put in my mouth.
Exactly one hour later, it was like a switch had gone off in my head (Whoosh!) and suddenly I was dizzy, my heart was racing, my stomach was nauseous, and I basically thought I was going to die! After an hour or so, I began to feel EXTREMELY tired and sleepy, but I fought it like crazy. Every time I closed my eyes, I felt like I was in a dark rocket tube, bright lights flying by and it was not pleasant.
I stayed on my feet, walking around the house, going outside, putting snow into my mouth, everything to keep from closing my eyes! Finally, I was just too exhausted, and figured out that I could partially sleep, by sitting leaning forwards into the back of a upholstered chair. This way I could doze and did not fully enter that terrifying ‘rocket tube’. I dozed like this for about an hour, and when I awoke, the effects had mostly worn off. I limped over to my easy chair and slept lying back, for another hour.
This experience left me pretty shaken
The next day I put a small amount on my knee only, and later I experienced some minor effects again, the whooshing sensation, some dizziness, heart racing but thankfully they did not last long. I decided to wait a full day before putting anymore on my knee. Instead of using DMSO, I used a bit of Camelina oil with a tiny drop of Phoenix Tears. No problems. It appears I have a very low tolerance for THC and I suspect the compassion cannabis product that I have been using is higher in THC than many.
A few days later however, I again experienced some unwanted effects (one hour later) after rubbing a tiny dot of Phoenix Tears and a little Camelina oil into my knee. Good grief Charlie Brown! What did I do wrong now? The effects weren’t strong but my heart was beating faster (causing some anxiety) and my muscles were feeling a bit tingly. I did a bit of research and realized that my reaction to such a tiny amount, through the skin, is rare.
The advice was to wear latex gloves when applying the oil.
Even washing my hands afterwards, was not enough. Rubbing my eyes or licking a finger (when eating), was enough to stimulate the THC in my system. I think I was absorbing the oil through the blood veins on the outer side of my knee too. I have some prominent veins there.
My solution is to either wear a latex glove or to put the camelina oil and drop of Phoenix Tears on a square piece of plastic wrap and using that to rub the oil into my skin. I also avoid rubbing the oil in prominent vein areas. I only put the oil on once per day, (for me), there is an accumulative affect… it stays in my system for awhile.
I want to make it clear here that my interest in Marijuana (Cannabis), is medicinal. I have no desire to use it recreationally. My next foray will be vaping, but I will be using a Hemp extract . Putting the Phoenix Tears and camelina oil on my knee though, has worked very well in terms of healing and pain relief. Three weeks ago, I went from having to use a Walker and cane, to only a light knee brace, to no brace at all to date. How is that for success?
My knee is still damaged but the inflammation that causes pain and more damage has greatly diminished! When I told my Dr. what I was doing, he approved of it. He thought it was possibly the best way to use Cannabis oil. I intend to keep using it, albeit carefully.
Update-
It’s been more like 6 weeks since I began using Cannabis oil on my knees. I am also taking CBD oil by mouth once per day (from Hemp) and that seems to balance the high amounts of THC in my Phoenix Tears concentrate. I no longer have to wear latex gloves to apply the oil. I no longer have any psychedelic effects through the skin, for which I am thankful.
I have been told by an experienced user of Cannabis, that what I experienced is called ‘whiting’ or ‘greening’. Perfectly normal for a newbie who has taken too much too soon. Live and learn right? I tell this story here, just as a warning to any newbies that want to try a cannabis concentrate. Take it slow, very slow.
Advice that I was given is to mix the concentrate into melted coconut oil, and then to take small amounts of this diluted amount. Gradually increasing the ratio of cannabis concentrate to coconut oil over time. I have yet to try this, and will update you all on how it effects me.
Here’s a video talking about using cannabis oil like Phoenix Tears.
